Antiqued and Distressed

Good morning!!! It's Friday and it doesn't really feel like it. Usually I am counting down the days till the weekend but since we got our week started on Wednesday (that's the day we got back from our little adventure) instead of Monday it seems as this week as flown by!! That aside I am still happy that the weekend is here.

I found this little end table at an estate sale a few weeks ago. It had a leather top and I was curious if I could paint over it and have it look alright. I decided to take a chance and try it out and it was successful!! For this piece I decided to paint it a more neutral, transitional color that would fit almost anywhere in your home. I feel like most of our pieces that we do have some sort of flare to them but this piece I felt would look best in a more traditional color. When I put a coat of primer, and then a couple of paint I decided to antique it in white. I just think it makes all the detail pop, especially the pretty engraving around the top edges. As I was painting the top coats of paint I decided to wipe it down in a few places to give it more of a distressed look. It worked out great to wipe it off with a wet rag before it completely dried. I wiped it all the way down to the original piece and it made the dark color of the wood come through. I think it would be a piece that would fit well in most settings.

I hope you have a great weekend full of fun adventures whatever those may be!!
