Another Idea for Chicken Wire

Hello!! I just got back last night from our little adventure down south!! We had beautiful weather for the majority of the time and enjoyed it to the fullest. I am not going to lie I had a hard time coming back to this cold, damp, dreary weather. I could have used a couple more weeks down in the sunshine. It just does something for the body and mind. I guess the saying goes that all good things must come to an end...and I guess that is what happened.

Anyhow onto a brighter note I am back and ready to share with you yet another chicken wire idea. I seem to love chicken wire lately and I think a lot of people out there do as well. I took this old table that had glass on the top and repainted it not just once but twice!! I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with it I guess. Do you ever run into pieces that just don't look right after painting it? Anyhow, I painted it a white the first time and distressed the sides. It just didn't really jump out at me when I was completed and I was wondering why. Well the glass on the top of this table is really scratched and I don't think any color would hide that fact! So I tried covering it with paper....nope that didn't work. So with a couple good ideas from the peanut gallery (my Mom and Sister) I decided to put chicken wire underneath the glass. I then also repainted the piece and distressed it with stain. I was much happier with the outcome then the first time around. It just goes to show you that anything goes.

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday...only two more days to go until the weekend!!

Here is a picture of the boring, old table before the chicken wire was added.

Here it is after with the new paint job and chicken wire added underneath the glass. I think it makes it more unique and fun.

  2. Cute! The chicken wire really does add to the look. Something to keep in mind when we finally get the chicken wire fences around our vegetable garden this summer!

    Cheers!

  4. I love the look of chicken wire! Years ago when I had a country kitchen I look the middle out of a few of my cabinet doors and replaced it with chicken wire and fabric. Thanks for sharing at The Shady Porch! Blessings, D

  7. Love how your table looks now. The glass can really get scratched if you don't protect it.
Good old chicken wire to the rescue. Some would say it makes things look too country (my daughter) but with many people liking eclectic it goes with lots of styles, to me it makes it more interesting. Who wants everything to look and be the same? I'm thinking of taking out the middle panels of my hated kitchen cabinets to add chicken wire and some cute fabric. Why not, I hate the way they look now (typical mfg.home cheap cupboards we inherited upon buying the place). You have to make do with what you can afford after starting over too many times in too many places and living on SS. Happy weekend.
