My Little Wheelbarrow

Hi everyone.  It's gardening time and I love how pretty the gardens look.  Here in Michigan it's been a little dry so we have had to do some watering to keep the gardens perky.  Anyways, I found this little wheelbarrow at a garage sale (where else would I buy it) and thought that it would look cute in a color rather than the original steel look.   Here is the before picture, which really didn't look bad.

Out came the "cheery" melon spray paint and I started painting.  I think it will show up much better in a garden or as an accent piece in a room.  What do you think?

New Headboard

Hello!! Just another beautiful day in Michigan today. I love this time of year! I hope you are all enjoying these lazy days of summer. Today I am going to show you a project that I have been wanting to get done for awhile now. I found this big mantel at the flea market a year back. I just loved it and brought it home. Of course my husband was wondering where this big piece was going to go in our house. I reassured him that I knew where it was going. :) The best thing about this piece is that it is made out of foam. You would never know by the way it looks, but it is NOT heavy and I don't have to worry about it falling down from the wall. The guy who I bought it off of used to decorate for weddings and he was selling a bunch of his materials. I could have bought a ton more if we had room in the car. Fortunately for my husband we didn't. :) I painted it and cut the sides to make them even. My husband then helped me cover up the ends with pieces of wood that he cut out to cover up the ends. I LOVE  how it turned out!
Have a fabulous rest of your week and thanks for stopping by!!

Lil' Pink Birdcage

Good evening...hope everyone had a great Tuesday.  It was a beautiful day here in Michigan....as we spent most of it by the pool.  I feel like it doesn't get much better than that!  I found this little bird cage at a yard sale.  I saw some potential in it and quickly scooped it up.

I thought it would look cute all dolled up in pink....so I cleaned it up and sprayed a couple coats of paint.  Here's the after picture....I hope you enjoy the rest of your evening!

Flower Box

Hello and happy Monday!  Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying summer so far.  Time is going so fast right now and I so wish I could just pause it for awhile.  I love summer and it just seems to go so FAST....

I picked up this wood box at a garage sale.  I have said it many times before....but I just love boxes..any size or shape.
I gave it a coat of Kilz primer and then a couple coats of aqua paint.  I used my cricut machine to cut out a stencil.  I chose the word love and decided to stencil it in white.
Have a great day....and if you're reading ThAnKs!!!

A Step Up......

Happy Friday everyone......Here we go again.  I'm really into the color aqua and have been painting everything I find with this color.  Had found this old beat up 3 step ladder at a garage sale.  It was pretty sad looking but I thought it had possibilities.  Here is the before picture:

So I had some fun and painted aqua paint all over it and it looked so cheery right away and not so beat up.I put some graphics on the steps from Graphic Fairy, but I ripped the edges so they would soften into the wood and look a little old.  Than I wiped my favorite antiquing paint, burnt umber all over and wiped off the excess until I got the desired result.  I kinda left more paint on the edges and in the cracks.  Here is what it ended up looking like:

So again, what do you think?  It would be a fun conversation end table or in a bathroom holding little extras. Until next time, Dianne.......................

Upgraded Owls

Happy belated Monday.  I'm posting a little late due to a busy day.....but nonetheless it's still Monday.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day yesterday!  We enjoyed the day spending it with family.

I've mentioned before that I really like owls......I happened to find a pair of them at a local garage sale for a buck.  Here's the before picture of them....
I gave them a quick coat of white spray paint....I think they are much cuter now.  Here's the after picture....
Just a quick little project.....kinda like these ones that you see instant results.  Have a great evening....and if you're reading....ThAnK YOU!!!

Old Bottles Redone......

Hi Everyone......It's Friday and I missed Thursday blogging, but here I am blogging on Friday!  Had some fun with some old bottles that my husband had probably found in some old barn and I thought that it would be fun to paint the outside and visit Graphic Fairy to print off some fun pictures.  Here is the before picture:

I really liked this bottle because the screw top was old and I liked the printing on the bottle.  I painted the bottle with aqua acrylic paint many times, with drying time in between the coats of paint.  I printed off a clock face from Graphic Fairy and just modge podged it onto the bottle.  I had torn the edges of the clock because I wanted an old worn look.  Once it had dried, I than antiqued it with cream paint and once that had dried, I dry brushed gold acrylic paint on top.  When I liked the look I sealed it with an acrylic sealer.

So what do you think?  I think it makes a cute colorful accent piece that would have otherwise been thrown away.....Until next time, Dianne..............

Simple Re-Cover

Good morning!! I hope your Wednesday began as great as mine. There is nothing like waking up to the sun shining...it always puts a smile on my face. On this beautiful Wednesday I am going to share with you a simple chair that I simply re-covered the seat in some simple brown linen fabric and added a bird. I just LOVE birds right now so it seems that I have been adding them where they seem fit. I didn't think this chair needed to be painted because I like the dark, worn stain on it. It's difficult to get that perfectly worn look once you re-paint a piece, so once it was already there I couldn't let myself paint over it. The chair wasn't in really bad shape so nothing drastic needed to be done to it. I just wiped it down and re-covered the seat and I am pleased with how it came out. I am putting it in our booth...although I thought about keeping in for myself. I need to learn to let go of some pieces. :) Have a great Wednesday!!! ~Jessica

Here are the before pictures. It wasn't really that bad in the first place, but I thought an updating on the seat would be nice.

Here is the after with the new fabric and stencil of a bird.

My New Secretary

I hope you are all having a beautiful week!!  It is a really nice around here....it just makes me love summer even more!  Anyway...so this is my project that I had been working on.  I am so mad at myself for not taking a before picture of it. I bet you can imagine just a wood desk, no paint, nothing on it.  I am excited how it turned out and I am very excited that it fits perfectly where I wanted it.  Now it hides all my papers that I am always overloaded with!  It also fits, the kids little shoes, mittens, hats, and scarfs when winter comes again.

All I did was lightly sand before and I used a really cheap flat paint, and I have to say that I liked the look.  It almost looked like annie sloan paint.  I did put about 3 coats of paint on, but I feel like if I would of primed it, it still would of been 3 coats total anyway.  Then I used a minwax paste instead of poly....and that turned out great!  I love that it isn't too shiny!!  Anyways have a good one..until next time Kim

Glittered Trophies

Good morning and happy Monday!  It was a good weekend for my family and hope it was for yours too.  It was nice and hot around here so we were able to enjoy our pool although the water is FREEZING!  The kids don't seem to mind the water temp.....but why does it seem like the older you get the "colder" the water is?!

In one of my favorite home decor stores near my parent's house, I saw these glittered trophies and thought they were so neat.  I found a few trophies at a garage sale a couple of weekends ago and thought I would try to glitter them up.  They started like this.
I gave them a coat of white spray paint and then painted them with mod podge and sprinkled glitter all over.  Here's the result.  I think these would be cute displayed on a shelf in a girl's room....What do you think?
I don't know if you can really see the glitter.  I tried so many different ways to take the picture so that the glitter would show up.  This is the best one I was able to capture.
Have a great day and if you're reading...THANK YOU!

For the Dogs........

Hi everyone, it's Wednesday and it's not really my blogging day but I'm leaving town to go to a niece's wedding for the weekend and I'm leaving tonight.

I don't really have a before picture of the tall and skinny cupboard but trust me it was ugly but again I could see the possibilities and I thought  I could have fun with it.  I had purchased this cupboard at a garage sale and brought it home and did a little clean up job on it.  Decided to paint it with a cheery red flat paint and painted the inside of it with a light grey.  I wasn't thrilled with the end result so I modge podged  some dog print gift wrap paper on the outside.  Than I poly-acryliced the outside and inside and decided I liked the finished look.  What about you?  Dianne

Love for Numbers!

Happy Monday!  Hope everyone had a great weekend.  I saw these numbered coffee cups on the blog, www.the36thavenue.com, which I might add is filled with great ideas!  I love her blog and check in frequently...I think you should too.  I just fell in love with the idea of numbered coffee cups.  Actually....I find anything that has numbers on it is just plain 'ole fun.  I found these white mugs at the Dollar Tree and then picked up some black paint that is used for painting on glass.  I then created some number stencils out of contact paper with my cricut machine.

I lightly dabbed the paint onto the stencil, although, the paint did bleed a bit.  The paint has a thicker consistency so with the help of a needle(thx 36 avenue for the tip), it wasn't that big of a job to clean them up.  I found this cute little shelf adorned with hooks and thought these mugs would fit perfectly on it.  Where might you ask did you find that shelf?  The answer always seems to be..."garage sale".  I giggle when my hubby asks my son..."Where did you get that new truck?"  The answer is always the same....."garage sale!"  Without further adieu, here are my numbered coffee cups hanging from my "new" shelf in my kitchen.

Have a great Monday!  If you're reading.....THANK YOU!
