Scrapbox Shelf

Hi all!! It's Wednesday evening and I am super pumped. The countdown is on...in about 13 hours (I know pathetic that I am counting down the hours) I am boarding a plane and heading to a warmer destination!!! I can't WAIT to feel 70 degree weather...I feel like it has been way too long. So before I head out tomorrow morning I wanted to share with you one of my latest creations.

My Dad gave me this old box out of his garage that he had no use for. I was pumped because I love old boxes...even if they are not worth anything. Well this one happened to be useless to use as a box because the bottom was broken. I hate to just throw it away because I knew that something could be salvaged from it. So an idea come to my head and I asked my lovely husband to take on a project with me. We took the box apart and saved the outside pieces with the writing on it. I found these pretty brackets this summer and I was just saving them for a project like this. He made a new top out of some wood we had laying around in the garage and screwed the brackets into it. We then pieced together the two side pieces from the old broken box and screwed the brackets into them as well. This is how the masterpiece turned out. I was very happy with the result! I was also very appreciative of the assitance I had in actually making my crazy idea turn into an actual creation!! :) It might not have turned out as well if it was me with the old box, brackets, and tools. I probably wouldn't have anything left by the end to salvage from the two pieces. :) I like to think that we make a great team like that, I wouldn't ask him if he agrees though.

Have a splendid rest of your week!!! I will see you next Wednesday!!

Here is a close up of the brackets. Aren't they just so unique and pretty? When I saw them I just had to have them!
