A Beach y Scene

Good Morning, everyone.  It's Thursday again and I'm back.  Finally, March is here and I hope winter is going to be left behind.  Tired of the cold and the snow, even though winter didn't really come til January.  Well anyways I have a fun project to share with you.  My husband  found this little cabinet at an estate sale for $5.00.  I thought it was really cute but not the stained wood.  I forgot to take the real before picture but trust me it wasn't pretty.  So I started painting the cabinet with a mixture of white and blue paint, which turned out to be a soft blue.  Here are the before pictures:

As you can see, I started painting.  Sometimes I get pretty excited to start because the ideas are flowing and the camera is forgotten.  Well anyways, after the piece and all the drawers and cupboard door were painted, I decided to rub cream acrylic paint all over the piece, except for the top.  It made the blue even lighter and more faded with the white rubbed into it.  I also had found some vintage wallpaper at a flea market in Ohio and the blue in the wallpaper matched my paint exactly.  I thought the scene of bathing beauties was so fun.  I glued the wallpaper on the sides, on the front of the drawers and cupboard door.  I also had painted the handles blue, than white and than rubbed some of the paint off the handles, so that some of the gold came thru.  I wanted to use the old handles because they seem to go with the finished look.  Loved the shabbiness and it was so fun and fun to look at.  Here is the finished piece:

Found this cute little ceramic car and trailer that looks so fun on the chest.  Gives one a warm summer feeling.  I have this chest in my front entry hall and the colors go so nice.
