Vintage Lightbulbs and Butterflies

It's Thursday morning and on Monday, I noticed that my eldest daughter who also bloggs with me announced to our blogging world that we are going to have an addition to the family.  They are going to have twins and we feel so blessed.  They will be my 6th and 7th grandchildren.  We are all excited and can't wait for their arrival.  Jackie's and John's son Oliver is looking forward to their birth. The babies are due in December, actually the 30th.  I kinda of mentioned that it would be fun to have the babies on my birthday (29th) but she said she would be happy to have them come a little bit earlier than that.  Oh, well I tried. What fun we will have!!!!!!!  Now after the great news, here is my latest project.  I had these candlesticks that were brass but I had decided that I wanted to shabby them so I painted them a wonderful pink and then lightly sanded them down.  I had seen in the Country Living magazine these wonderful candlesticks done with some cool looking bulbs and paper butterflies.  So I gathered up some supplies.  Here is the before pictures:

My husband had found some vintage light bulbs at an estate sale. So these were incorporated into the design.
I glued the vintage light bulbs onto the candlesticks with E6000 glue.  When they were dry and sturdy I glued the paper butterflies where I wanted them.  Some of the candlesticks had more butterflies than other candlesticks did because the light bulbs were different sizes.

I also made some done in brass candlesticks that I didn't paint.  I think they are really fun and they were fun to do.

They are a fun addition to someone's decorating scheme and they look wonderful on  the mantel.
So, what do you think?  Until next time, Dianne.............
