Re-purposed Purse

Brrrrrr........that's pretty much all I have to say today. We went from 80 to 30 degrees in no time. It's definitely time to pull out the winter coats and hats around these areas. Last night we even had snow or hail or some sort of precipitation coming from the sky. Speaking of last night I was at my sisters house hosting a little baby shower for my older sister who is expecting twins. Yes I did say twins!! We are all super excited. She is having a boy and a girl so she gets the best of both worlds. So when we decided to host this little get together for her with some of her closest friends we went right to work on preparing some homemade gifts from the heart for her.

My sister Kim found this adorable and EASY pattern online that she wanted to try. If you notice the emphasis is on easy because these were such an easy pattern. I should say it's easy depending on what material you choose to use. She had this wonderful idea of cutting up an old purse of hers and they turned out adorable so that's the route we decided to go. I headed to Salvation Army, one of my favorite places to go and browse around lately, and purchased a couple of purses. The first one that I bought I thought would make such cute little booties for a baby girl. That they did although it took about half a package of needles before I figured out how to make it work. In the end they turned out just how I liked them but they were a little bit more work than the ones I made with a softer material.

This is the purse that the pink ones came from. I unfortunately didn't take a picture of the purse that the silver ones came from but you can probably just imagine what the purse did look like. This was the tough material to work with because it wasn't very flexible. Like the saying goes the best things don't come easy...right? I think that's how it goes.

Anyhow here is the ending result. After I made the booties I added some cute little feminine flowers to embellish the toes. I can't wait to see them on a little model. I am sure they will look even cuter. My model has been out of this size for quite sometime now.

Also, please don't look to closely because I haven't perfected the art of sewing. :) I probably have many more years of practice before anything is remotely close to perfect.

Here are the silver ones. For these ones I decided to add a simple button on top. You probably wouldn't have to add anything but sometimes I think I have a little bit of my Mom in me. We all know that she likes to add a few finishing touches to everything. :)

Here they are together...I can't wait to have another little one to make these for. Have a great day!!
