Yummy Yellow

Good morning!  I hope you had a great weekend!  My little guy was under the weather all weekend so we pretty much stuck close to home.  There are so many "bugs" going around this winter and it seems like someone is always sick......can we order spring early?

I bought this little table awhile back at a garage sale.  I liked the shape and size of it and knew it had some potential.

The table was pretty dirty and the finish was starting to come off in places....so it was in need of a little TLC.  I put a coat of Kilz primer and then a few coats of yellow on it.  I was lucky enough to score a quart of this fun and happy yellow for a buck at my local Home Depot.  It's so much fun to find awesome colors on their oops counter.  Gotta love only paying a dollar for a quart and five for a gallon!!  After the paint had dried, I antiqued it with a bit of black paint.

I hope you have a great day!

The Shabby Gals Spot

Hello!! I hope that you are all having a fabulous Friday! Tomorrow is Saturday and that's usually the day when us Shabby Gals go and spend a few hours each week in our little "store" or space that we sell all of our treasures in. It's called the Birdcage Antiques and Collectibles. For those of you located in Michigan the address is 5640 E. Highland Rd. If you get a chance and are in the area you should stop in and check us out. . It's a thrift store that consists of 18 different dealers, give or take, selling their antiques, vintage items, furniture, knick knacks, etc. We are located within the building in a large pink room and we are called, as you all know, the Shabby Gals.

I have never had so much fun re-organizing and decorating a room before! It's so fun to see it all come together. There are three of us contributing all of our projects and treasures that we work on into the space and somehow with all of our different ideas and styles it comes together in a feminine, rustic, shabby and eclectic kind of manner. It's really neat to see the room transform each time we are in there working on it. It's also a blast to be able to spend time with each other in a space that we created as a team. So all of these projects that we have shared with you throughout the weeks on this blog are probably going to be in some of these pictures I am about to show you. Although, to tell you the truth you might not see ALL of them because once we complete a project sometimes it ends up in our own homes. I am definitely guilty of that!

I am so excited to be sharing with you the place that is so near and dear to our hearts. We have worked so hard on creating a place that is overflowing with all of our unique items that we have put all of our creative energy into. We hope that you like it and please if you get a chance to stop in let us know what you think. We are always looking for ways to update and change things up!

Have a great weekend!!

Shabby Welcome Sign

Good Thursday afternoon.....It's already the middle of February and the month is just flying by.  Hopefully Spring is just around the corner.  Here is my little fun project.  My husband found this old window screen at an estate sale.  The screen is kinda of unique.  There were no holes in the screening. I really liked the piece. Here is the before picture:

I had seen an idea in a magazine where they had embroidered on an old window screen, so when I saw this old screen I decided to try the same thing.  I pulled out some ribbon yarn and started embroidering.
I put on the screen "Welcome to our Home".  I than glued some old earrings to the screen and the wood frame.  I left the wood frame alone because I liked the holes in the wood and the molding around the screen and I liked the wood look with the dark screening.

So, what do you think?  Better or worse.... Until next time Dianne.....................

For the love of Mason Jars

Good evening or should I say good night? I honestly am not sure where my Wednesday has gone. Do you ever have days that just fly by and you are not quite sure where they went? Usually my Wednesdays are my busy days and since my big 1 year old decides to get ALL of her teeth at the same time, well not all of them but probably about six top ones right now, she is miserable and just wants to be held. Poor baby.

So I have wanted to do this project for quite some time. I saw it done on another blog a long time ago, so long that it was before I had pinterest and can't quite remember where I saw it. It must have left a long lasting impression on me because I just had to try it! I had picked up about 16 mason jars at an estate sale awhile back, not quite knowing what I was going to do with them but knew that I could come up with something. So all I really needed was a board, old or new, and some pipe clamps (not really sure what they are called to be honest with you). I decided to make this using a base board out of an old house. Of course once I got the supplies I needed some assistance from my lovely husband to get the clamps onto the wood. Luckily he is so generous with his time or he wanted me off of his back he decided to put them together for me one evening. I was thrilled with the outcome, so thrilled that I will probably have these all over my house to hold tooth brushes in the bathroom, utensils in my kitchen, crafts supplies in my office, etc. The list could go on and on! :) I hope you all have a great rest of the week...thanks for stopping by!!

These are the pictures of the first one I made. I only put two mason jars on the first one. The second one has three. I like them both and they both could serve different purposes.

Below is the second one that I created out of the same base board. I put three on this time and this is going up in the office to help organize...or maybe just to put something pretty in. :)
