Hidden Treasure

Good morning! I hope you all have been having a fabulous week thus far. Only one more day until the weekend, I know that I am looking forward to it. This cabinet was a hidden treasure found in the back of someones garage. It was tucked away in the corner just awaiting it's day of being tossed out by the road. Luckily my husband saw the potential in it and brought it home to me. Along with my husband I could see the treasure in this piece.
I looked through my options of paint and immediately thought that it would look best cream. Of course I am never content with leaving anything just cream, it was in dire need of some pizazz. Here is what this treasure looked like before.

After much scrubbing and a few patches I decided to go with cream for the outside. I finished it off with a mint green for the inside and around the edges to give it an antique look. Then to really polish off the look I decided to add some little wood moldings on the doors. I kept the original hardware but I painted and antiqued it to match the rest of the piece. Below is the final treasure.

Vintage Kitchen Decor

Half way there is what I always think when Wednesday comes along. Although, I feel like so many projects have to be accomplished these days that it could go a little bit slower. I am sure that everyone reading this probably feels the same way. There is just never enough time in the day! It's a gloomy day in Michigan but I am going to share with you a bright and cheery project that I have recently completed.

I got these trivets from a garage sale this summer and immediately I thought that they would look so neat adorning the walls of my kitchen. I wanted them to be a bright color that would look nice with red walls. That brought me to the color yellow. When I sprayed them they looked a little too bright and perfect so I needed to bring back that old, vintage look. I took some white paint and wiped it on and then sanded the top just a bit to bring out some of the black underneath. I was happy with how they turned out and can't wait to get them up on my walls! Mantel Ends

Hello!! Hope everyone is having a fabulous Tuesday! I woke up feeling ambitious today...hopefully I will take advantage of that and get some things accomplished. The title of this post is called mantel ends because I am going to share with you two large pieces that I have completed that are going at the end of my fireplace mantel to complete the wall. I thought they reminded me of book ends that kind of make the look complete and keep everything together.

Anyway enough explaining and on to the project. I bought these two large cabinets from an estate sale. They were in the basement displaying a bunch of gallons of paint on them. They were looking really rough but I LOVED the look of them with the bottom shutter doors and they seemed to be the perfect size for the two spaces beside our fireplace. Sooooo when I got them home I thought I took a before picture...but I couldn't find it so here is a picture of the door before I got a coat of paint on that. You can see what color they were, which wasn't the problem. The problem was the stains and different splatter paint all over it...along with spider webs and moth balls. :) I painted them a nice shade of gray that I hope will go well with any color we paint the room, which if our next project! Fun with Numbers!!!

Hi everyone!! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!! We enjoyed ourselves....but it always goes by sooooo fast. I did my first "guest post" over at the Blissful Bucket List last week. In case you missed my project, I wanted to share it once again here.

I have two projects that consist of numbers. I just love numbers right now and try to incorporate them into my decor in different places. I found these three canisters at a garage sale for a couple of bucks. I fell in love with the size of them and the fact that they had teaspoons on the side. I quickly scooped them up and brought them home. Here is a before picture of them.

I used my cricut machine to create three stencils out of contact paper. I absolutely love my cricut machine....Santa brought it for me last Christmas:)! I used a black acrylic paint that is specifically used to paint on glass and carefully dabbed the paint on. Always dab....never rub when you are stenciling. I removed the contact paper as soon as I finished with the paint because it dries quickly. There were a few runs, however, this paint seems a bit more chunky so if you use a toothpick you can clean the lines up very easily. Here they are after their "make-over"!

Onto the second "number" project. I found these little glasses at a garage sale as well. I think they were used as small canning jars, however I use them for little juice cups. Here they are before I prettied them up...

I used the same technique as I described above. Here they are now after their "make-over".

What a Step Up

Good Morning everyone. It's Friday and the sun is shining down on us. Having beautiful fall weather here in Michigan. Well, I have done a step ladder before but I found another one and wanted to do it a little different that my last one. I think they are really fun projects to do and when they are done they can go anywhere because they are small and cute. So here is the before picture:

As you can see, it was a little grungy looking and really paint splattered but I could see the possibilities. So, I went thru all my paint cans to see what color jumped out to me and I decided on a pretty pink, so what else is new, right? So, I painted it up and when I was done, it looked too new. I added wallpaper on each step and than shabbied it up with black acrylic paint. No sanding, just paint to make it look old. Anyways, here it is all done up.

I think it came out fun. What do you think? Dianne
