Good morning! I really enjoy making these word signs that are all over right now. We always seem to have a piece of scrap wood just laying around the garage waiting to be re-purposed:) I finished this "Grocery" sign recently and thought it would be cute used in the kitchen. My inspiration came from a sign that I recently saw at Hobby Lobby.
I simply sprayed my scrap piece of wood red and then used black acrylic paint to antique the edges. I pulled out my cricut machine and cut out the word, "Grocery" and stenciled it on.
What do you think?
Have a fabulous day:)
Thanks for stopping by!

A Fun ReDo
Good Morning. It's Friday and I think this is going to be my normal blogging day. It seems to work better for me. Anyways, here in Michigan we are just having beautiful weather. The days are sunny and the cider places are busy with all the apple pickers. It's a wonderful year for the delicious cider and the apples are plentiful. Well, here is my latest project. My husband (who loves picking) found this little beat up cabinet. It was missing a floor to the cabinet and the paint was chipping off of it and I didn't like the hardware on it. Here is the before picture:
Actually after looking at these photos, the cabinet wasn't really that bad, but it was boring. So, we added a floor to the cabinet and out came the paint. I wanted it to fun and happy looking. I painted the outside of the cabinet a medium oops gray paint. I painted the panel of the doors with some black chalkboard paint. I switched out the little red knobs with some old handles and decided to add some numbers to the top of the cupboard. My husband also found these numbers and I added it to the cabinet.
I antiqued around the knobs and hardware and also the number which I added crooked.
Since I had painted the cupboard a medium gray I decided to antique with a black paint. I thought it went well with the chalkboard doors.
Here is my fun color. I had some aqua paint and went painting it all in the inside. Fun, don't you think?
I also had painted the inside panels of the door with chalkboard paint. One could really put a lot of messages on this little cabinet.
So, what do you think? Better or worse? Until next time, Dianne.......................

Pumpkin Fun
Hi everyone!! It's a beautiful day in Michigan. The sun is shining and the leaves are slowly falling from the trees. I just love this time of year. I love this time of year for many reasons and one of them is the decorating. Pumpkins are probably one of the most popular decorations for this time of year so that is what inspired my post today.
The other evening my mom and my sisters got together and created these adorable pumpkins out of books. We saw the idea years ago in a magazine and then recently we have seen them on pinterest. We just had to try to make them because they looked so much fun. You basically just need a book of any size...the thicker it is the more full your pumpkin will appear. You will also need scissors, an exacto knife, spray paint, a pen or pencil, and some embellishments for the finishing touches.
We started by taking off the binding of the book and then drew a circle on the top page. From there we cut, and cut, and cut until all the pages were rounded. Then we hot glued the binding together to make the pages fan out. We then hot glued the pages together page by page switching the direction of the pages halfway through. It was such a fun project. The best part is you can be as creative as you would like and they all don't have to be orange as you will see below. We even sprayed one gold.
This pumpkin was my Mom's first trial run...doesn't really look like a trial run to me. It turned out adorable. For this one she used an old math book!! See you really can use any book you would like.
Now it's your turn to sit down with a nice cup of cider and a warm candle burning that smells of fall and try one of these out yourself. They are not difficult but they do take a little bit of time. I hope you all have a great day!!

She added a twig to the top for the stem and then some faux leaves, ribbon and yarn. This is all after she applied a light coat of orange spray paint.
So after she made the trial run we all had a try at it and these are how the others turned out. I love each and every one of them.
This one was sprayed gold with some wire and netting coming out of the top. Probably not your typical pumpkin but cute none-the-less.
Be careful though because your little one might think that it is time to read. :)
The awesome thing about this pumpkin is that it is not breakable. This pumpkin was not harmed in this process. :) Even though it looks like she was a little rough on it. Thank goodness this one was my creation and not any one else's. I don't think they would have appreciated these little hands all over there beautiful creation.
Now it's your turn to sit down with a nice cup of cider and a warm candle burning that smells of fall and try one of these out yourself. They are not difficult but they do take a little bit of time. I hope you all have a great day!!

Beach Mirror Upgrade
Happy Monday! I hope you are doing fabulous wherever you are right now:) It's crazy how fast time is going....Halloween is just right around the corner. Are you reading for all the Fall festivities? My son is requesting to be a skeleton this year...so the question is do I try to be creative and make his costume myself or would he have more fun picking his own costume out? We shall see.....Gone are the days of him dressing up as something cutesy:)
I found this shell mirror this past summer. I thought it would look more appealing if I painted it white and antiqued it with some gray paint.
So that is what exactly I did.....I covered the mirror portion of it and sprayed the shells white. After the white paint dried....I antiqued it with some gray acrylic paint. Here she is now after her mini-facelift:)
Have a great Monday! It's rainy here but we are going to make the most of it:)

Not Just For Baking
Good Morning everyone. Well October has come and we are having some muggy weather here in Michigan. I guess I am ready for some crisp fall weather. The leaves are changing in color and starting to fall and the kids are all settled in at school and I have a fun project to tell you about. I had found these candlesticks at a garage sale for $1 and found these old baking pans for practically nothing. My candlesticks could come apart and I thought it would be fun to combine the old baking pans and the candlesticks. Here is the before picture:
I unscrewed the candlesticks and sprayed them with a hammered silver spray paint. I wanted the base to kinda of match the baking pans. I didn't want the bases to be black. I than asked my husband to drill holes into the middle of each pan and I left the patina of the pans just like they were. I liked the oldness of them. I purchased some o rings from the hardware store and glued them on the base first and than added a pan. I added the "o" rings for some stability. The drilled hole was just big enough to slide down the base of the candlestick. Than I glued the pan to the o ring. I added another part of the candlestick and another o ring. I did all my gluing with E6000. I just love that glue and its does it's job!
I did 3 different size baking pans and the second one I did, I just did 2 different baking pans.
I thought I was finished making my stacked pans but I decided I needed some sort of handle in the middle of the top pan so I added.
So I added a glass door knob to the center of the 3 stacked pans.
And to the 2 stacked baking pans I added a crystal. They just needed a little bit of bling.
So, what do you think? I think they are a fun way to display or hold items and it saves on space. I could see them on a table at a party holding lots of goodies or on a dresser holding lots of precious gems. Until next time, Dianne....................
