Modge Podge, Hodge Podge?

Happy Friday!  The week has come to an end.  I hope you had a good one.  This one was finally more productive than the last.  I am thinking, that since I had a day to myself it makes all the difference in the world!  I do love my kids, but sometimes I think I just need a few moments to myself, hopefully all the moms out there agree.  So anyway, I finally think I got the modge podge thing.  So I had a canvas that I had put fabric over awhile ago, it was hanging in my bathroom.  I was switching things up and I decided it was time for a change.  So on my wonderful 5 hours off, I was browsing in some fun stores, and came across this paper.  My sisters tease me about my birds, but I have to say I am just drawn to them.:)  So here is the before.

It's not like I didn't like it, I mean it's pretty fun fabric.  I just didn't have a place for it anymore.  All I did was use the modge podge, and I did go pretty slow, I do have a few wrinkles, but it's what makes it right?  Nothing is supposed to be perfect.  ;)  Well that is my motto anyway.  Here is the after.

I love how it turned out, or maybe I just love the paper, or the birds....  Anyhow it was something to change up the picture on my shelf for awhile.  I hope you have a great weekend!!  Until next time...Kim

Coffee Print

Happy Thursday!  Hope this finds everyone well.  Yesterday was a beautiful day as it was in the 60's....so awesome.  The kids were all happy to be outside without all their winter garb on and riding their bikes!  Anyways back to my project....I recently picked up this frame at the local Salvation Army store.

Seriously...not my taste...no offense to cows!  I really enjoy quotes...and I often get teased about it.  I find inspiration in them...whether it be losing weight, just being happy or even raising kids.  I knew this little picture could be updated with something fun...so long cows.  I found this quote on liferearranged.com and just fell in love with it.  Here's my updated picture....

I typed up the quote in my word program and sprayed the frame a bright red.  What do you think?  Thanks for reading!

It's Monday and I hope that you all enjoyed your weekend. It always goes by a little bit too fast, but I am excited to share with you my latest project that I dug up from my basement. This summer I had purchased this old metal cabinet. Even though it had a few dents and scraps I just fell in love with it. I always think that there is a story to be told in each dent or scratch. I wanted to fix it up though, soI scrubbed it down, put a coat of kilz on it, and picked out this fun aqua color from my basement (the color just screamed out to me for this piece). The top was looking a little beat up too so I took a magic eraser (love those things...takes out any marks) and I polished it up. Here are the before and after pictures. Hope you like it!! Wire Basket

Happy Saturday, another week has gone by.  Sometimes I don't know where the time goes....but everyday there seems to be something.  I think everyone can relate to that.  So I wasn't really working on anything this week...I guess I just was actually just trying to keep up on everything.   So here is a basket I found this past summer at a garage sale.  I really do like it, but it is kinda heavy and everything falls through it.  I use it in my tiny mudroom to catch everything.....mittens, hats, the kids shoes, but everything always slips out of it. 

It's cute right?  A little impractical...maybe that is why they were selling it.  Or maybe it had something to hold everything in, and it got trashed.  So anyway, I decided as I was trying to clean up a little that something needs to be done.  Found some muslin, (not the cutest material)  and made a little bag, or liner for the basket.

You can still see the cuteness of the basket, but something that holds everything.  Sorry I should of ironed it first.  ;)  So hope everyone has a great weekend....until next time Kim

One of a Kind Onesies

Happy Friday!  Fridays are my favorite day of the week!  I recently made three onesies for my sister's baby shower.   These are fun gifts to make and personalize for someone.  I love projects that I can make with my cricut as it's a fun tool to use.  The first step is to gather your onesies and decide how you are going to personalize them.

Then use contact paper for your stencil.  Put the contact paper on your mat just as you would with vinyl or paper.  In the past I used vinyl for everything.....which was EXPENSIVE!!  I started using contact paper and found out how nice it worked for creating stencils and was much more economical. You get a huge roll compared to the vinyl sold at your craft stores.  Without a doubt it's more BANG for you buck!!!

My sister chose not to find out what she was having so I made a little bit of everything.  I then used fabric paint to to create the images.  The contact paper makes a great stencil and if you dab the paint on...and not rub...you should get great results.  

My sister's baby turned out to be a little girl....so the dump truck onesie may not get put to use!  Although, if she does wear it...she'll be a cute lil' tomboy!
